OWEA is a valve fitted to a commercial building’s water line on the property side of the meter. It is designed to steady water flow and pressure in the building’s plumbing and reduce unnecessary water use.

Energy Agent reviews your water and sewer bills and the proposed installation location to see whether the product is suitable. The quote depends on pipe size, installation requirements, and the conditions at your property.

Explain the science behind this

In high-velocity plumbing systems, turbulence can introduce entrained air into the water stream. According to Boyle’s Law, when pressure fluctuates, gas volume changes proportionally — meaning air pockets within the system expand and compress as pressure rises and falls.

These dynamic volume changes contribute to system instability and flow inconsistency.

OWEA is installed on the property side of the water meter and functions to stabilize downstream pressure and reduce turbulence. By moderating pressure variation and limiting reverse-flow oscillation through its integrated check valve, OWEA reduces the expansion and compression cycles of entrained air within the system.

The result is more consistent flow behavior and improved plumbing system efficiency.

Digging: Required only when the installation point is below ground and there is no accessible supply line. This is determined during the site survey. Digging costs are additional.
Downtime: Some larger custom valves require more detailed installation, but most installs are fast. Scheduling is coordinated during non-peak times and determined during the site survey.

It’s installed after the meter — so how does it help?

OWEA doesn’t change the meter itself. It improves how water moves inside your building. When water flow is unstable, pressure spikes and small air pockets can develop. OWEA smooths out those fluctuations, creating more consistent flow conditions. In many high-volume facilities, that improved stability correlates with reduced billed water usage.

What are the suggested minimums for real savings?

Ideal clients should have a water bill of $1500.00 + per month.

How far back will the backflow compression work?

How do I know it is working?

You’ll see an immediate difference in your water meter readings and a noticeable drop in your monthly bills. Many customers see results within their first billing cycle.

How does it affect water pressure?

In most cases, the valve results in a minimal drop in pressure (3–5 psi), which is often beneficial since many municipal systems are over-pressurized.

The valve helps stabilize water pressure, making water usage more efficient. For special cases, we also offer high-flow valves designed to maintain or increase pressure.

DOES IT EFFECT THE BOOSTER VALVE WHEN APPLICABLE? No it does not effect the booster valve. It only effects the main valve.

Can it be installed in above ground & below ground piping?

Where does it go in?

The smart valve inserts into the supply line on the building side of the meter. Some buildings have one meter, others have multiple. The valve works on each meter.

Example 1: A drive through car wash most likely has one meter for all the usage.

Example 2: A multifamily apartment complex may have a meter for each building, a meter for the leasing office and a meter for landscape/irrigation.

Will my pipes need to be cut?

No pipes are cut during most installations. The vast majority of installations insert directly into the main supply line with no cutting.

In rare cases where there is no collar to insert the valve, a licensed plumber will cut the pipe and install a collar and short section of pipe before inserting the valve. This is why we use certified, insured, licensed plumbers.

Does it require maintenance?

No, its one time installation.
